The mineral Moss Agate is one of a group of microcrystalline quartz which has smaller, finer, crystals. Moss Agate gets its name from the spots on it. It has the same attributes as agate, except it lacks a striped/streaked pattern. Most agate occurs in cavities in volcanic rocks or lava.
