The Mantle is the second layer of the Earth. It is composed of the Upper Mantle and the Mantle, and is a total of 2,900 km thick. The mantle is mostly composed of rock, as the upper mantle contains lava fueling volcanoes. The mantle itself has a temperature of up to 1,652º Fahrenheit (900º Celsius).
